It may only be 1 Waxwing but......

Almost unheard of, a Waxwing in Cornwall.  It didn't take long for the word to get around and the local birders to get down to the car park of the farm shop where the bird was.

My friend took these photos.

  • What I would give for ONE waxwing in my garden. Lucky dird he has all those berries for himself, never heard of one that far South before now. Tell your friend brilliant photos

  • In answer to corni and Mac's questions my friend Pauline was about 9 or 10 metres away and she used a 300mm lens. She also took these.

  • Really, really good photos! I saw three waxwings in Hendon (NW London) a couple of weeks ago, never seen them before. Looks like they are more widespread this winter than usual!

Please feel free to take a look at my blog - http://nick-young.blogspot.com/

    Hi CG

What fabulous photos of the Waxwings.

Well done to your friends photography skills.  They are stunning birds, and you have made the best of seeing the bird in their full glory.

There is hope for us who have not seen them yet and yes we live in hope that we see them before the end of the winter months.

Thank you for bringing a smile to my face

    Regards

    Kathy and Dave

  • Aren't they beautiful birds? I saw my first lot (from about 6 feet), when I unexpectedly came up a neighbour's front path (on a slope behind their car) and saw a group in my Rowan tree just the other side of their car. I had the camera in my hand and just took some pics before they saw mw an flew up to the TV aerial. I snuck into my car and lowered the window before they returned and took some more pictures and video. Amazing luck. My neighbour told me there were dozens ('hundreds0 the following morning. That's when I took the final shot of the bare tree - stripped!! (see my gallery).

  • For some reason my browser had blocked these images so I couldn't see them but now I've managed to unblock them.

Absolutely top class photos. I'm so envious. I've yet to see one let alone photograph it.
