Waxwings Invasion Continues:- Ingleby Barwick

The Waxwing invasion continues in and around my local area. For those who live within half an hour to an hours drive from Tee-side who still haven't seen these beautiful birds why not get in your car and drive down here.

There is daily reports of several hundred birds been sighted at numerous locations, if anyone who lives within the area wants to see them I will gladly meet up with them and show you the birds.

Even more shots to follow, I've been busy tracking a flock of three hundred birds.

Regards Buzzard

Hate to admit this but yes I have and there were some in my cousins garden. The camera - well that was left on the hall table at home. I blame my age !!!!
Intend going back if I get the time - with camera. But I did so enjoy them

Yep I often have DOH moments.

Have had the camera battery on charge over night, packed the car with my gear next morning got to my destination picked up the camera and thought it feels rather light. Doh, battery still in charger at home.

Worst still, birds in abundance and showing well; can't get any pics.

So pleased you made the journey and saw the birds.

I think it was the thick berry laden  hawthorn hedge they loved. Always carry a spare battery, once bitten twice shy. Will make sure camera goes into the car first next time

  • Waxwings arrived in Cardiff between Christmas and New Year. One fell down our chimney. We found out that they were waxwings from a photographer taking pics of them in the 10 inches of snow while they were feeding off the berries in the trees. These pics will be going into next year's Christmas Cards.
