After going on friday in terrible weather to see these beautiful birds, I couldn't resist a trip in glorious sunshine yesterday to try and get some better shots.
My apologies to those who are waiting to see these magnificent birds but I thought you may enjoy dozens of pics that I got.
I promise to post more of them every other day -:}
I can't imagine the quality of the shots that the guys who have 2k - 10k worth of equipment, I'm thrilled with the pics that my little camera and lens got.
I was still having to manually adjust the lens which was really testing my patience.
The flock had increased to between 70-80 birds and at times it was difficult to get on a single bird as my eyes were drawn to all of them. This has to be one of my best birding experiences, I know that these birds can gather in huge flocks but I have never seen more than half a dozen at a time. There has been numerous years were I haven't got to see them at all.
There has been a real buzz around the area and it has been amazing at the amount of birders who have travelled to see this flock, I have also enjoyed showing numerous folks the birds that have never seen them before.
A Sparrowhawk dispersed the birds and the flock disappeared, so you never know guys they could be heading your way.

Excellent shots Buzzard, thanks for posting them I'm one of the ones who has never seen them, they are beautiful and even more so to see them for real.
I've been checking out the lastest sightings for our area and learned that on the 25th October about 5 had been spotted not far from here. We went over there early yesterday in the hope they were still about or more had appeared but was unsuccessful so will keep checking and live in hope.

Excellent photos. Thanks for sharing, Saw my first ones last Sunday. Don't think I'd ever get fed up looking. Its amazing how accommodating they are allowing us so much time to photograph them. Saw some again at Kirkcudbright yesterday for about 30 seconds before a Sparrowhawk flew over and spooked them.

I don't think you have ever sounded so excited on the forum - it shines through in your report. Fantastic exerience for you after so many years of birding, and wonderful photos. Please keep them coming - like Al says, we can't get enough of these birds. They are simply magnificent, and so much more so set against the blue sky and colourful berries. Gorgeous.
I am still googling for more sightings in my area, and keeping my eyes and ears peeled.

Thanks for finding it, as I have mentioned these birds are tame when they arrive and you can get very close.
Sparrow: you are quite right. Excited and beaming from cheek to cheek.
