    Thanks Ray,

I've just checked it out on Multimap and there is a Cemetery Road in Sheffield just off Ecclesall Road, so I will assume that is the right place!! Now I just have to decide whether to drive over and hope they haven't moved too far on.

    cheers

    Hi ladybird

Been this morning, Finished up on a road called gisborne road

one chap there with telescope.   pulled up and he was watching waxwings.

must have been a good hundred feeding and flying into poplars. was wll worth going but didn't bother going on to ecclesall road . I would think with all the berries they will stay                                                                          WELL WORTH IT.               regards Ray            got some pictures

  • One of the Ilkley waxwings taken last Sunday. Still there today, have to search for them, but should hear them before seeing them.

  •

    Hi-

it's probably worth checking with a call to your local Birdline before going.  Expensive but safer :)

  • Hi Ray,

I've just got back from Sheffield. What a morning! I had only been parked up for 5minutes and I saw my first Waxwings!! I took some photo's and walked around a bit listening for some more, spoke to quite a few locals who were more than happy to say where the Waxwings would be. I'm not very good at estimating numbers but I should think there was about a hundred in the flock which kept breaking up and the re-gathering in different trees.

    I've put a couple of photo's on

Thanks again for your info. Gisborne Road/Dobbin Hill were the best places for me.

    cheers

  • It was brilliant. I've been wanting to see a waxwing since I got my first birdook when i was 8 years old. A dream come true. Thanks again for the tip off. There were a few other birders around while I was there so hopefully plenty of people saw them.

    cheers
