Had our first Redstarts this morning at Loch Doon,Ayrshire. Heard two for ages but only eventually saw one of them before a heavy rain shower. Large flock of Redpolls also with Siskins along with them. Still no cuckoo heard or seen as yet

Hi Soosin,
Had Cuckoo over the Wyre Forest, Worcs this afternoon. He wasn't stopping, so he's on his way. He said he'll get there as quick as he can!
MC:-)
Cool, can't wait, when he arrives summer will definitely be on its way. lol
Excellent news! I love the 'starts!

I heard my first Cickoo of the year across the road from my house today. :-)
I've never seen a Redstart though :-(
Best wishes Chris

Hi,
good reliable places for Redstarts include Denny wood near Beaulieu Road Station in the New Forest, and the woods near the Moat pond on Thursley Common Surrey.

Great news about the 'Starts' love those birds. There was an article on Natures Calender programme recently
Never knew that they continually quivered their tail all of the time - looks really odd
Great to hear the Cuckoos about once more. Only heard them last year in the UK and Menorca but never saw them at all.
