My sister thinks she saw an osprey over 'Ricky' high street today. I thought it was quite likely due to the time of year. Any body else seen one anywhere in the south?
Toadflax.
Lucky sister!
Haven't seen one yet this year but in a former life (longer ago than I care to remember) I was a planning officer at Three Rivers Council - based in Ricky - and saw an osprey sailing over the town one lunchtime in April (this would have been in the mid-1990s I guess).
The chain of gravel pits in the Colne Valley would look like a perfect highway to the north, for an osprey - with every lake a potential refreshment stop, as well!
I imagine quite a few slip unnoticed up the valley each spring, and south again in the autumn. When I moved from Hertfordshire to Oxfordshire to work for the RSPB I began doing some 'migration watches' along Edgehill, and was lucky enough to spot an osprey heading south, following the hills down into the Cotswolds.

Hi,
a buddy of mine lives in the middle of nowhere in Huntingdonshire and he gets Osprey most years heading north through his river valley.
I had two Honey Buzzards heading south over my village a few years back- they seemed to be following the line of the old canal and main road.
