I'll be honest with you, I have seen the tips in various publications and even looked at other folks pics of these, but I cannot work it out. Is the pied more grey under the wing, in which case does that make the attached pic a White Wagtail. I've claimed this as a Pied as I have no real idea beyond that. Any thoughts and advice would be gratefully received.

Deffo pied, but remeber White and Pied are the same species so aren't that easy!

Wagtail autumn ID was covered in Birdwatching Magazine September 2012
This is a Pied- note extensive blackish rump and mantle. Head pattern is very B/W - winter White wag would be greyer on the cap. 99.9 % of all (migrant ) White wags have left Britain by end of October.
