On Christmas day whilst walking in the lovely snowy Moss Valley between Sheffield & Chesterfield I saw hundreds of crows take flight persued by some large raptor. Any ideas which bird would take a chance with Crows. I thought possibly a Buzzard. There was so much commotion that identification was difficult.

Thanks for the suggestion. I suppose I will never know for sure. This is the first time ever I have seen such behaviour. Usually it is crows harrasing raptors this looked like the opposite situation.
I would love to see the Harris Hawk such beautiful birds.
Thanks
hi Nails
I have seem Crows mob Buzzards, Red Kites etc... I have seen Ravens do the same thing to Black Kites in Spain. All members of the Crow family do this to raptors for some reason of their own. It may be the dominance thing between species maybe not.
Personally, I like to see Harris Hawk (or any BoP) in the wild, and not captive. Unless the bird has a serious problems, and cannot be released back in the wild there is no reason to keep them at all.
One of my pet hates I think, is to see a healthy BoP's sitting on someones hand when there is nothing wrong with the bird. Just my opinion.

I do know what you mean about captive Birds of prey. I may be too trusting but do hope there is a reason for any captive bird.
