On a recent visit to Sheffield Park I took this photograph. It reminded me of the icing rose bud decorations on a birthday cake. I would be pleased if someone could identify this shrub for me.
A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush
It's beautiful, isn't it? And yes, definitely "iced gems" :)
After a google search for "shrub pink iced gems" I found it....
Kalmia latifolia.
Various other names...Ivybush, Calico Bush, Spoonwood, Sheep / Mountain Laurel, Lambkill and Clamoun.
Make the most of today because, unlike Sky+, there isn't a rewind button.
Bless you Paula I can put a label on it now.
You're welcome. I first thought it was a Viburnum because the leaves look like the one I have in my garden. I wasn't sure and it was niggling me so I did the google search. Just happy to help :)
What a gorgeous shrub and well done Paula! I will definitely be looking out for one of those for my garden.
The necessity of bird-watching is a really good reason for avoiding all forms of housework.
The dust will still be there tomorrow - the birds may not be!
