So I keep hearing this sound, during the day. Mostly in the morning between 9-11, but sometimes in the afternoon as well, but definitely before sunset. And it's driving me nuts, because I went through the typical bird catalog in this area and none of those birds match what I am hearing.
The sound is sounds pretty loud and far away, so my guess it's not a tiny bird, it's a vibrating trill but not too high-pitched, that sounds almost electronic. Prrrrp Prrrrp Prrrrp Prrrrp. It does that Prrrrp sound four times in a row. Then stops. Then goes again at various irregular intervals, but not all day, not even every day. If it helps, I live close to the Broadmoor Hospital, and it sounds like it's coming from the forest? But as sounds tends to carry, it's difficult to tell exactly.
Can you get a recording of the call? It's very tricky to ID a bird from a description of its call.

Hi,
I have the same here in Brighton. Is it this call?
OMG THAT'S IT!!! I tried to record it over the last few days, but the damn thing is so random, by the time I get my phone out it's gone.
that's a strange call. merlin (bird sound ID app, highly recommend) doesn't seem to be picking it up, which is unusual since it's fairly accurate most of the time. you should also acknowledge the chance that it may not even be a bird!! animals of all sorts make some weird sounds.
if I were to guess a bird, I would say a raven. their main call is usually a low pitched "gronk" sound, but they can make some WEIRD noises!! the video you said it sounds exactly like does sound a bit like some of the weird raven calls I've heard, so that's my best guess, but I'm not certain. I'd recommend watching some weird raven calls videos, just so you can see what I mean, and also because they're funny :)
This is a corvid - most likely a crow - it's a contact call that can travel a fair distance

I think you’re correct. Not the rare creature I first thought
