Hi, can someone help identify this sound, I live in Ireland and heard it when I was out for my early morning walk,it was in flight and seemed to be doing circles over the area. Really high pitched whistling sound that I have never heard before.8475.Voice 002.m4a
A bit tricky to hear clearly. Was the bird thrush sized? If so it might be a Redwing. They make a very high pitched "tseee" call when flying. They are arriving in the British Isles now from their breeding grounds in Iceland and Scandinavia.

Yes that second clip was very like it. It was still quite dark so I couldn't see it but it was flying around overhead for at least 10 minutes. I've never heard them here before,thanks so much for this.

They typically migrate at night so that would fit with it being still dark. Bit of a lucky guess on my part.
