Can anyone help identify this bird song recorded in our garden. It has been here over a week.

Hi Julie,
As strange as this may be it sounds like a Northern Bobwhite (Colinus virginianus), a type of new world quail native to North America. Where abouts do you live in the UK or perhaps you live in the USA.
I believe that they have been imported to Europe presumably as game birds. This recording was made in Slovenia.

Am I on the right track or is it back to the drawing board?

Be good if you could see it Julie & grab a quick pic!
Thanks Wendy, I hadn't remembered that thread.
I only came across it when googling!
Hello TeeJay, thank you for replying. It’s sound very similar. We listened again to your bird and ours but not quite sure it is the same. I live near High Wycombe in Bucks. Wendy, we have too many gardens and trees. My husband has been trying to locate it with the binoculars. If it is a quail that wouldn’t work. It doesn’t show up on Merlin or Smart Bird ID apps but if it is from America they wouldn’t be listed on these apps. Thank you may be still a mystery.
