Recently went to Croatia and spotted this enormous bird sat in a tree, and haven’t ever seen anything like it! Does anybody know what type of bird this is?
I have been told maybe a jackdaw but they are a lot smaller in size.
Hooded crow. Same species as can be seen in northern Scotland and Ireland.

I thought that too but the shape of the bird is completely different and the grey on the back of the head is in a different place. What do you think?
Defo a hooded crow. It has raised its feathers on the back of the head, so perhaps this is what is causing the overall shape of the bird to differ from what you expect.

Yes, Hooded Crow. I'm in the north of Ireland and it's the only crow we have (though not only corvid), we don't have carrion crows at all. Very common, very smart. You can, with patience even befriend them.
