I was walking along the beach and heard a shrill call. I turned to look and saw a small bird, a bit too far away to see details. It looked darkish in colour, and looked sparrow size or slightly larger. It glided from the grassy area behind the beach from about 20 ft. up. It never flapped its wings during its very shallow glide to the ground. Can anyone help point me in the right direction please? I am in Kintyre at the moment if that helps.
Skylarks and meadow pipits both fly and then " parachute" down, often whilst singing?
Thank you!
