What bird is this?

Found in Devon on a small flowing stream.

Definitely a pipit but I would have said a Meadow Pipit despite the rather smudgy streaks. Very long hind claw which you can see on its left leg.

Rock Pipits can have long-ish hind claws too, though not as long as a Meadow - and this bird is more creamy, has more of a smudgy look to its streaks and lacks the white underneath too.

I'd say Rock.

I think the legs are a bit to dark for Meadow so I'd opt for Rock

Rock it is then. My mistake although I did dither over its smudgy flank streaks.
