Could it be a Northern Wheatear?
An optimist sees the beauty of the complete rose.A pessimist sees only the thorn .
It appears to be the same size as a magpie with quite a large wingspan and blue colouration under its wings when in flight.
I can hardly believe this and I could be horribly wrong but it looks like a juvenile Roller. They are summer visitors to southern Europe so if it is one I can't imagine what it's doing here. I suppose it's possible that it could be an escapee from a captive collection.
We need further opinions on this.

PS you seem to have started two identical threads. Might be a good idea to delete the earlier one to avoid confusion.

Hi Tee-Jay Crossed on the duplicate thread but I though the same as you, but felt I must be wrong as I have only ever seen them in Northern Europe.
Of all creatures, man is the most detestable, he is the only creature that inflicts pain for sport, knowing it to be pain. ~ Mark Twain
So do we agree it is a european roller? I have been on the net and seen other pics of this bird and it appears to be like for like when compared.
Wow amazing.
Hi Airliebirddan
Forgot to say welcome to the forum in my excitement
I just checked on Birdguides and the most recent reports of Roller sightings in the UK was on The Gower in Wales in August. So they are not unknown in the UK but pretty rare. If you are confident this is a wild bird and not an escapee then I suggest it should be reported to your local county recorder. At least you've got the evidence to prove your sighting which is not always the case.

Hi again
Here's a link to for the Recorders in the various counties.
http://www.bto.org/birdtrack/bird_recording/county_bird_recorder.htm
I have added another close-up photo of the bird, also have it on video, however i seem to be unable to add it to the web page because the file size is too large.
Couldn't see any pics on this thread, but I've posted on the other one. It is a Roller - amazing sighting.
