Hey there folks,
Spent a very pleasant day mooching around Lackford Lakes on Saturday and noticed this guy flitting through some light shrubs and trees along with around 30+ Long-tailed Tits.
I'm struggling to pin it down to a specific warbler or maybe a chiffchaff but the black tip on the beak is throwing me off the scent.
Much appreciated if anyone can shed some light?
Thanks so much, everyone,
Mark

This bird looks like a small woodpecker, about the size of a sparrow, but with a shape like a warbler. It hops up and down tree branches like a woodpecker, and appears to be eating insects, with that kind of insect-eating needley beak. It has a sort of grayish brownish color on its back and a light yellowish color along its throat. I think I saw others of the species without the yellow throat. Its call is distinctive and sounds like "sugary sugary sugary!" Spotted in Illinois. Nothing I have ever seen before. Not a goldfinch. Any ideas? Thanks! whatsapp web 192.168.0.1 routerlogin
