Please can you help identify this bird call

I'm afraid I didn't take a recording but it was a loud, repeated ascending 3-note song.  Heard in woodland bordering wetland.

Thanks in advance for any help - I know it's not a lot to go on!

  • Crikey Nats, that really isn't much to go on. However, a loud three note call in woodland ...........a wild guess .... how about Nuthatch?

Sander Bot, XC35043. Accessible at www.xeno-canto.org/35043.

There's a Woodpecker drumming in the background.

  • Well Nats, are you going to give us some feedback on our suggestions?

  • Many thanks both! I think the nuthatch definitely sounds closest, although there seemed to be more variation between the 3 notes - there were 3 distinct pitches within each phrase. I'll definitely have to take a recording next time!

    All the best,
    Nats
