I'm no expert but it looks like a Drinker caterpillar to me (latin name Euthrix Potatoria also known as Philudoria Potatoria).

i don't have any books on caterpillars moths & butterflies, i'm also a newby to this computer lark, so had no idea how to look it up. i knew that one of you nice helpful & friendly people on here would help me out. i can't believe how much time i spend on this sight, you start reading something then that leads to a link so you follow it, then another & so on & before you know it an hour has gone. thanks again
