If its no fun Yer no doin it right!
You have a Jay there, and a great selection of pictures too.
I agree that they are illusive birds and they are shy too!

Kathy and Dave
Yes, Al is quite correct it is a jay related to crows, magpies etc. They are quite large birds to cling on to feeders although they will obviously have a go. Try scattering some peanuts on the ground in a quiet location to see if you can attract him back. They are often very shy birds.

Lucky you to get a jay in your garden! It's an unusual bird to see as they are always very shy.
I would definitely do as TJ suggests to try to attract him back.
Best wishes Chris

Thanks for that AL. I took the pictures very hurriedly after trying to catch it for 3 days. You ought to see the ones I didn't post!!! Thanks again.
Hi TJ
This Jay has been on my feeder for 3 days now (that I've seen him/her) and he only stays on the feeder for a few seconds so I think I was lucky to get any pictures at all. I usually work shifts so don't get to see many birds at the feeder - I just notice how quickly it all disappears.
Thanks
Tim.
Fantastic photos Tim. I am lucky enough to attract Jays to my garden, I put peanuts on the ground as mentioned by TeeJay. I have not obtained any really good photos unfortunately. You have done really well to get yours.
Kind regards Jane.
