It was flying above my house, I have never seen one like this here before ? It was well high and just riding the thermals until i lost sight of it. We do have red kite near here but i think it is not one of them.

It looks like a Buzzard to me.We get lots flying over our house so looks familiar.

It's not always easy to hug a hedgehog.
But that doesn't mean you shouldn't.
Short broad wings plus long tail = an accipiter species, not a Buzzard. I'm going for female Sparrowhawk. Goshawk is the other possibility but to me this doesn't look sufficiently pale, long-necked or hefty.

I would actually say a female Sparrowhawk too.......

PS - this morning while out birding I thought I'd found a distant Roe Deer, but on closer inspection it turned out to be an interpretation board - luckily no-one was there to witness my blushes...
