HI,
it's a red necked grebe - not a very well one. The lobed feet are a giveaway :) The bird seemed to be half way from winter to summer plumage. Warm peachy on the neck and upper breast.

the grebe was 30 yards away beyond a deep channel and was shivering- I think it was not long for this world :(
