Hi all
Many apologies for this terrible blurred picture but this bird was moving quickly quite high up and I just didn't get a good shot.
I thought it was a swift but on blowing it up as much as I can to see the image I think it might be a hobby. If it is it's the first one I've seen. Am I correct?
Seen over Black Swan Lake at Dinton Pastures at about 13.45hrs today
Best wishes Chris

Hi Soosin
Excellent. Thanks for confirming this. I'll have to go back to see if I can get a better shot now :-)
Well done, Chris. That's a really good bird to see. I thought I caught a sighting of one out at Dinton a few days ago but before I could get my bins focussed it had disappeared. You did well to get any sort of picture - they move so fast.
Any sight or sound of the grasshopper warbler?
Tony

Hi Tony
That's primarily why I went, but no sight nor sound of a grasshopper warbler. I saw reed warblers and sedge warblers. I'm not even sure I found your recommended sighting place. I went round Black Swan Lake from the North, right around to the large promontory known as the viewing point. (that's where I spotted the hobby, that I thought looked like a larger swift) but then I wasn't sure I found the right patch of scrub before I reached the footpath.
I might try again tomorrow if the weather is nice.
yup thats a hobby!! Brillaint i have only ever seen these in africa and i would love yo see one here.
Brilliant find!!
