We're in the North Peak District. Walking through a meadow yesterday we saw 2 lapwings flying together in an amazing display. For 5 minutes they were circling around each other, mainly equidistant and in the same plain so that we could consistently see bother their backs. It was as though they were in a vertical wheel spinning around the same hub. It was breathtaking and exhausting simply to watch. What was going on? Nothing I can find in YouTube or other web search responses quite captures what we saw?
