When in south Cairngorms a week ago, I saw two birds of prey lock claws and spiral together towards the ground before releasing. I am sure they were buzzards from their colouring and how they hovered towards one another beforehand.
I've read that they do dance around laying season, but can't find any photos confirming this. I'm sure they weren't ospreys (which are also somewhat local).
Am I mad?
Hello Hamish, yes this will be part of courtship display most likely, Take a look at this post I put up a few years ago. It is quite thrilling to witness their display.
