A conifer in my garden is scheduled to be removed on March 22. I noticed today that magpies have started nest building in the tree. Is it ok to proceed with the tree removal?
Hi and welcome to the forum ... the answer to your question is No ... it is against the law to interfere with an active nest! Link to Wildlife Act 1981 in Wiki ...

HTrees can be taken down in certain exceptions under safety and health which is covered in the Wildlife ann countryside anct and it even alows that to happe with schedule 1. birds. Such as a tree could falll on to someone’s home, possibly could fall on to a railway line or e en a road. And that is covered in the 1981 wildlife and countryside act. If you want me to provide that link again. I will post that link. The 1981 wildlife and countryside act is not straightforward as some like to think.
Regards,
Ian.
