Maybe you could leave lots of twigs off those trees in your garden for pigeons to gather for future nests?

There was a story I read somewhere back along that feral pigeons, were using those metal deterrent spikes to build nest with.

Perhaps their habitat is becoming so depleted that they can't find the nesting materials.
