Great Tit Nest has gone quiet

Hello,

I have a gorgeous little nest box quite high in a tree (3-4m up) and a devoted pair of Great Tits have lovingly & tirelessly been feeding their chirpy brood every day from morning to night for about one week solidly (could be slightly longer than a week though). I was not home for 2 days during this their 2nd week in the nest and I last heard the babies cheeping on Tuesday morning and I saw the parents feeding them. It is now Friday and I haven't heard the babies or seen the parents at all the entire day. I'm now concerned something has gone wrong.

Is it normal for the nest to fall silent like this for a full day (or longer) during the nesting period?

I guess it is possible that the babies have fledged without my knowing but it seems too soon?

I'm now torn between waiting to see or peeking inside the nest box with a camera but I don't want to scare them if they are in there.

Any advice appreciated.

Thank you,

Warwick
