Worry about sick robin

Hi we have a robin in our garden who does not seem well, has been on the ground for days, very sluggish and doesn’t seem to eat when we lay food out for it, or drink. She seems young as is very fluffy and we are worried about them. What can we do to help

  • Jess, sorry but there is unlikely to be much you can do to help. The fluffing is what sick birds do - there are a number of potential illnesses that can make them depressed and disinterested in food - the main ones at the moment obviously being Bird Flu and Trichomoniasis. Because of the flu outbreak rescues are being told not to take in sick birds.
Which ever the cause it is strongly recommended that you stop putting out food and also remove water that birds share for either drinking or bathing.
