House sparrow with 1 inch beak

Oh poor fellow. There are members here who have posted pictures of their birds with the same problem and they have done okay, they manage to feed and have survived. It is called an overgrown mandable, where the beak has kept growing, hopefully it will do fine.

That's a shame, though it is amazing how they manage to feed regardless of the beaks deformity.

Also, for further reading if you're interested, I had a coal tit with a crossed over beak, which seemed to manage  without any issues, and was time and again, to the point I saw two with crossed beaks!

Thanks for contacting me. I have been watching this Sparrow for over a year now and he is thriving. I was just curious if this was a rare sighting. I have been a twitcher for nearly 50 years and I have never seen anything like this before.

I have just watched a sparrow like this in my garden. At first, I thoughy he just had something stuck to his beak and I thought I saw him trying to rub it off, against a twig in the bush, but I suppose he was just cleaning. When I saw this picture I knew it was the same issue, although his beak is not quite as long as this.
