What

  • I was clearing the garden and removed a pine tree I had in garden back at Christmas time and I saw something moving and discovered a nest with 6 eggs, the thing I saw moving was the robin. The robin was watching us so we put the tree back to cover and protect the nest and left it. The robin came and went in the nest over the day but today I have only spotted it once.(although a few days before discovering the nest I saw the robin once on the fence) how can I tell if we have caused the robin to abandon the nest or can we assume that as it has come back the eggs will be ok? Another thing I don’t recall seeing 2 robins just the one
  • as male and female are very difficult to tell apart it's hard to say if you are seeing the same bird every time, they may also be being a little more cautious about how they are accessing the nest - please don't be tempted to go and have a closer look and cause further disturbance. fingers crossed that all is well
