Snowy Owl?

  1. Three times now I have spotted a very white owl flying back and forth across the field behind my house, at dawn or just after. I am by no means an expert but it looks like a snowy owl. I live in Mid Suffolk, It's extremely beautiful. Could it be a snowy owl?
  • Hi Noonic, Only an opinion but I think it's more likely to be a Barn Owl as they can appear very pale in flight and are likely to be seen early morning or late afternoon.

  • Thanks Hazel.

You're probably right. It's an amazing sight. I'm hoping to catch it on camera so that I can find out for sure. I'm a night owl (pardon the pun) so it may take some time!

    Kind regards,
    Nicci
  • Hi Nicci I agree with Hazel about it being a Barn Owl, I've just looked on Twitter and there's no mention of a Snowy Owl..but you can't rule out and escapee from somewhere.

Thanks Alan. There is an owl sanctuary nearby but I haven't heard of any escapee owls recently. A Barn owl is great too but a snowy owl.......!
