We often see great pictures of the stars of the bird world but the ordinary birds never get a look in.
I would like to start a picture thread of those birds that we share our everyday lifes with like the Sparrows and Pigeons etc...
Lets all take our cameras out and give them a chance to shine.
These just keep getting better and better.
This year my privet shrub is the sparrows' favourite day time roost. (Last year it was the conifer hedge on the opposite side of the garden)
These are just a few of my Treasure Pots.
Cheers, Linda.

That made me smile, Wendy. That's what you call the pecking order but they are not going to be put off just because the Woodie is trying to keep all the food for itself.

talking of pecking order TJ leads me into this.......................
just could not believe my eyes when I witnessed this juvie starling deliberately attack collared dove - at first
I thought it was a collision but quickly realised it was a pre-meditated attack - he clung on clawing & biting until dove flew off!!
was too late to get it on movie
Nice capture Wendy. They can be aggressive little blighters can't they. I recently witnessed a Magpie trying to oust a Wood Pigeon from a feeder tray. He kept trying but the Woodie kept repelling him and eventually the Magpie just gave up. This quite surprised me.
Normally too, my Great Spotted woodpecker won't allow anyone else on the feeder containing suet pellets and tries to peck them
but on this occasion he was quite prepared to share a tray with a Sparrow.

Our herring gulls are red listed birds. Think about that the next time you hear some flaming idiot calling for a cull of them.
Thank you Clare, that is very kind of you. Yes, they are beautiful birds.
That's a stunner Sparrow! Wow! They are truly beautiful creatures!
I love this thread, it contains my library of the only birds I have pictures of! LoL! :)
So many incredible photos, I'm jealous! Here's a cute gull taken in Chichester on Friday:
I do adore gulls!
