Red Kite Romford Essex

Hi All

 

Yesterday, Sat 04-June at about 18.00 I saw a bird of prey circling above Collier Row which is about 2 miles north of Romford, Essex.

Quickly getting my binoculars showed a deeply forked tail and some white bands under its wings just before the wingtips. Using my favourite id book, I am 99% sure it was a Red Kite which incidently was being chased by several crows !!

Anybody else in the area notice it?

    Hi Kev, no reason not to doubt it as my elder sister saw one over Ongar only last week, which is only 10 miles as the Crow (Kite) flies from Collier Row. How fantastic is it that they are slowly coming eastwards.

    Feed The Birds....not the cats!!!!

    I know....my spelling's crap !!

    I've had two sightings of what I think was a Red Kite. The first sat on top of a lamp post and the second sitting on to of a fence. Both sightings either side of the car boot sale site at Collier Row. 2nd sighting was this Monday 13th June.
