This Nuthatch was high up in a tree (40-50 feet) next to a footpath we walk along. It appeared to be feeding either on lichen or something in the lichen.
It's found something to eat
Further along branch, it appears to be looking for something to eat.
Got something!

A few from my first 2025 visit to Eastern Moors this morning. Red deer (as usual), a wren in the snow and a slither of a resting barn owl
Beautiful photos Bob, the deer on the hill is my favourite with the snow on the ground
Thanks ILR. The stags were well away from the paths today. Usually I don't mind leaving the paths when you can see where your foot is planting but with the snow lying on top its easy to get a wet leg.
Yes I understand, keep yourself Safe Bob especially in these freezing temperatures.
Just a few from me from my local daily walks. Still a bit miserable weather, but we do our best ...
Kingfisher on the opposite side of the canal, I only got a couple of shots before it flew off ...
A Black Headed Gull on the frozen fishing lodge - bet it's feet are cold ...
The obligatory Robin ... You can't leave em out ...
A little Dunnock on the hedge outside my house, (through the bay window)
Finally, a little Wren that visited yesterday. Again taken through my bay window. I find that a decent window cleaner and the 'Dehaze' slider in Photoshop's Camera RAW Filter helps with shots through windows ...
