Brandon Marsh 17 Apr

Like many of us, I've been making good of the blue skies and sun, that has been in very short supply over recent months.

The weather for Wednesday 17th was looking good, again, and another attempt to spot the elusive but vocal cuckoo. Alas, just heard and not seen.....

But the morning did deliver a fabulous sight, made even better by the blue sky and sun.......

The morning started with an empty egg shell, length 75mm approx (yes, I do carry a short ruler in my pocket), probably predated from a nest, I suspect a Canada Goose shell. Later that morning from a hide I'd been in earlier, there was a dead Canada Goose. Whether the two are connected of not, I've no idea, but the reserve team have been advised and the situation is being monitored for the obvious reasons, avian flu among others.

What better than to start with a non-compliant little grebe.....

Finally.....

A right little poser....

The prize of the morning, a red kite flypast

Err, nice birdie, no, not me, I'm not your breakie....
