Tasty feast!
Hoverfly thingy...well a canny mind away back to last year lol
(Pardon the Scottish Accent)
I am mostly relying on Google Lens to identify these so please let me know of any corrections.
Hoverfly - Google say Helophilus pendulus
Ladybird Pupa
Common Red Soldier Beetle (says Google) - there were loads of these in our grass
Some sort of fly - not even Google could help me
Nice selection and photo's Mrs Ed
Thanks Snappy. I don't have a macro lens to be able to keep up with all you professionals but I do my best

The way they're going on, there will be loads more ...
My bugs book agrees with the Helophilus pendulus, known as the Sun Fly or The Footballer - from the broad stripes on it's thorax.
Sarcophaga Carnaria I think. Sat on a wall watching the bees in the garden and this wee beastie landed close to me.
Fabulous detail Ed
Thank you.
Great shot Ed. I enjoy a bit of macro ...
Thank you. Am still trying out the close range photos. The Rf 100-500 lens is absolutely great in my view. Still trying to find a good affordable macro lens to try and get closer. Picture taken at 500mm about 3ft from the subject and slightly cropped.
Lovely photo Ed with super detail; yes, I also love the RF100-500 lens which continues to amaze me at the quality. Looking forward to more of your photos,
