Fabulous photos folks, and a pleasure to see. Insect life here generally is almost non-existent this year, with the only ones I seem to see are at reserves.....
How about a mosquito [ID conf/correction always welcomed] hitching a ride on a feather on the Great Pool, Baddesley Clinton the end of June....

I was amazed the photo would crop so far, with the angle of light and the added fun with being so close to water, and the resultant glare issues attached, not just to water, but snow, ice (hopefully no snow or ice this summer) and other reflective backgrounds.
Great shot Mike under challenging conditions, and as you say, cropped in well ...
