It's well overdue for starting. This is the link to last years thread
Butterflies and Moths 2023
There haven't been a lot of butterflies around here this year so far. The earliest was a fresh Red Admiral on the 3rd of january
Since then I've seen a Speckled Wood & Peacock. There have been Brimstone's about but I haven't seen them. Plenty of time left in the year to go chasing butterflies.
Best wishes

Really good photo Linda
Nice work Mike
A few. Not quite the last of the summer wine. I was inside a greenhouse looking at some plants and saw a small tortoiseshell butterfly flitting about happily in doors. I think it’s the only one I’ve seen this year. There were more about last year. Here’s 1 or 2 recent butterflies.
Lovely photos Mr Kes great to see
Great photos and lovely variety there Mr Kes

A beautiful moth that I haven't seen for 8 years, so thought I'd share it. I'd have liked to pop it on a tree trunk for a nicer photo, but it only stopped a few moments & was gone,
It's got an odd name Clifden Nonpareil
Beautiful moth H always wished for one in my moth traps but never that fortunate!

Thanks Wendy, I was with a pal who traps all over the place & he'd never seen it before, so was really pleased, it made our night.
That's a beauty H, well spotted and thanks for sharing this rarity.
Great photo's Mr Kes.
