It's well overdue for starting. This is the link to last years thread
Butterflies and Moths 2023
There haven't been a lot of butterflies around here this year so far. The earliest was a fresh Red Admiral on the 3rd of january
Since then I've seen a Speckled Wood & Peacock. There have been Brimstone's about but I haven't seen them. Plenty of time left in the year to go chasing butterflies.
Best wishes

I think you're right, I've corrected the text. Thank you.
Nice close up Mike.
Thus one flew out of the raspberry bushes tonight, I had to follow it then put a plastic container over it briefly for a couple of pics..ID would be great thanks

Hi Linda, nice moth, perhaps a Common White Wave...
Thanks SM, certainly brightened up my evening
Yes I agree. It is a Common White Wave moth ... . A great way to get an underneath shot. I have a piece of glass out of an old picture frame I use sometimes on top of a tub.
Thanks BD...when I said container..eh it was actually a funnel..Easy to just pop over it and still let's in air
Very pretty moth Linda, pleasure to see
