It's well overdue for starting. This is the link to last years thread
Butterflies and Moths 2023
There haven't been a lot of butterflies around here this year so far. The earliest was a fresh Red Admiral on the 3rd of january
Since then I've seen a Speckled Wood & Peacock. There have been Brimstone's about but I haven't seen them. Plenty of time left in the year to go chasing butterflies.
Best wishes

Thanks Wendy. I've been hoping to see the White Admiral all year since I got a glimpse of one last summer.i believe they are fairly common on in Europe but not so in England.
Thanks PB, I got some shots of some of the underwing but not a full side on view. Wet here today and windy so none out today. I got a side on shot with my phone of one I happened to see last summer but it flew off quickly and didn't see another one until this year.
Thanks BD.
When is a caterpillar not a caterpillar?
When it's a Sawfly Lava ... Well, I thought it was a caterpillar ...
Early yesterday before downpours
Oh and this flew out my potting shed

Think we need Germain for the moth ID!
I believe it is that one. I saw it on the canal bank where there is some of those yellow flag irises. I thought it was a caterpillar when I photographed it, but couldn't find an id, that's when I Googled and found out I was wrong ... again ... .
Looks like the butterflies have seen a bit of action Linda. A few war wounds ...
It's like a blooming war with this weather...dry today though...so far.....
