It's well overdue for starting. This is the link to last years thread
Butterflies and Moths 2023
There haven't been a lot of butterflies around here this year so far. The earliest was a fresh Red Admiral on the 3rd of january
Since then I've seen a Speckled Wood & Peacock. There have been Brimstone's about but I haven't seen them. Plenty of time left in the year to go chasing butterflies.
Best wishes

A glorious display SM, saw a Small Tortoiseshell & Large White here today & that's all even though it's wonderfully sunny with light winds!

10/10 for your Skipper id.
Now your white - I call that a male 1st brood Green-veined White - look at the black cells on the edge - slightly triangular in shape and present quite a way down the edge of the wing - no black spot cells present on lower wing

Thanks Wendy, I am not getting many in the garden at the moment.
Thanks Germain, I can see you are right. It was a big one, I thought the top wings were hiding the spots on the bottom...
Well captured Snappy, but more impressive - well identified ... most impressed ...
Thanks BD, just messed up the white one...
Lovely Skipper fest Snappy :o) Don't remember seeing a comma yet this year :o(
SnappyMac said:Photo's taken today at RSPB Sandy, best day yet this year for the butterflies.
