I looked for this year's thread which doesn't seem to have been started yet as it will be a few weeks before we see some of the young birds ......
so will start of 2024 with one of the first young to appear - a rather cute wild "funny wabbit" which was one of two kits seen. Only record pic taken through window.

Fluffed up bracing itself for the wind and rain!
(Pardon the Scottish Accent)
I've had a couple of casualties over the past 3 weeks.
The (house) cats brought the first to my attention. I was obviously elsewhere when it headbutted some glass. The eyes were rolling, the feet responded with trying to grasp - so it was given the 'dark quiet place treatment'. It flew out of the front door about 15 minutes later. 'Rescued' by cats (otherwise it would have been prospective prey to the other local felines); I'd have not noticed it without my (house) cats.
The next one hit the glass sufficiently hard to kill itself. I was there. I heard it hit the glass. A read 'thud'.
Morning all, (it's not a good one here ) I'd like to share these here to check. I spotted this lady on one of our fence posts two days ago, it was absolutely pouring and she looked really fed up, of course she may have been struggling to catch a meal
A young female Sparrowhawk?
Taken through wet patio doors! When I attempted to open them carefully, she was off but what a beautiful flight, she dropped off the post to grass level, turned towards the house and glided by the patio about two feet off the ground, round the back of the house, last seen, hedge hopping and away down the lane
1cy Kingfisher seen today on our residential parkland
I think, judging by its fluffy, unkempt feathers and juvenile-type demeanour, that this is a Young Chiffchaff. Either way, it was lovely to watch
Nice find Kevin.
Thank you
Lovely Kevin.
Lovely HAZY I'm still at the "stalking a blue flash" stage with our local Kingfishers!
