I looked for this year's thread which doesn't seem to have been started yet as it will be a few weeks before we see some of the young birds ......
so will start of 2024 with one of the first young to appear - a rather cute wild "funny wabbit" which was one of two kits seen. Only record pic taken through window.

Did the adult catch that fish and pass it to the chick ? great photo capture BD
Not sure Hazy, I was taking another Moorhen chick of the same brood, when I saw movement out of the corner of my eye. I looked towards it and saw that one with the fish racing towards the overhanging cover of the canal bank nearest to me being quicky chased by it's parent. I got one quick shot before I couldn't see it anymore.
Impressive catch BD
Thanks Snappy. Right place, right time ... for a change ... .

I'm glad you posted both, the orig and the cropped. A grab and shoot captured the moment perfectly.

Thanks Mike. I think the original does tell the story, but the crop shows the youngun with the prize better ... until his mum catches him ...
Soooo small
(Pardon the Scottish Accent)
They're everywhere just now
Feed me...
It does look tiny. A bit earlier in the year I saw hundreds of tadpoles in a fishing lodge near me, but I have never seen any frogs or toads. Someone must have had plenty of tasty snacks ...
