Kicking off this year's odds and sods with Starlings in a rainbow on that extreme rarity: sunshine.
It was early morning, with the sun barely cresting the tree line. We were able to get out for our morning walk as it wasn't raining. This photo is my trusty Canon 80D and Sigma 18-300mm lens zoomed in at 300mm.
Pulling back a bit.
And finally all the way back.
Oh, 2024 got off to a good start with this.
So far my cat, perhaps two neighbouring cats visiting our garden, a local fox and Tawny owl, and this trap have accounted for at least five of the beasties. Sightings of rats in our garden are getting rarer, so I think I'm winning. Two rather timid and wary rats, that I know of, are proving more elusive to catch. I've resorted to buying a lethal trap. The trap was triggered, yesterday, but no rat, sadly. Though a mouse might have triggered it, and was small enough to be within the kill bar.

Yes, Big Moor. Wet as anything.... I've been up there quite a few years now in snow and rain but yesterday the water collected on the footpaths and you were walking up streams. Boots flooded straight away
I do miss the like button. :) I think voting is an odd way to appreciate someones photos. Liking was plain and simple I'm not even sure what I am voting on lol.
The white llama is Snowy lol. A female fallow oddity in the Peak District that keeps company with the larger red stags. A big moor favourite if you can spot her.... very elusive even though she is white against the moorland. People are still uncertain how she appeared up there a few years ago. She is very boingy and disappears in a flash.
Well done bob, lovely photos, so clear.
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
A great set of photos there Bob. Amazing to see how much bigger the reds are.
A tiny snail - anout 7mm across it's shelll, on the outside of my kitchen window this morning. An ideal opportunity for a bit of macro. Unlike most subjects it's not likely to quickly rush off! I think it is a Brown Lipped Snail, but it might not be ...
Can't see his lips BD
Nice and clear. Good effect on the glass.
