Limpy and I went to the Bird Observatory at Landguard Point on Saturday, where we saw this fantastic bird - even better, it was spectacularly obliging:
It was only the second time I'd ever seen one of these and I was chuffed to bits to get close-ups of it! I hope you all enjoy these.
Our herring gulls are red listed birds. Think about that the next time you hear some flaming idiot calling for a cull of them.
Those are very good close up photos. there very sharp and show lots of detail in the photos aswell. I havnt seen a red backed shrike in real life before either
hopefully but Cause im still young I got my whole life ahead of me to see one so hopefully I do. Up until I saw your post I didn’t know any where you can find Red backed shrikes so hopefully I do one day. iv been on holiday a lot in the uk the only place iv never gone on holiday to is Scotland and iv mainly been on holiday to forests and the beach around southern western and eastern side of the uk and still haven’t seen one anywhere on my holidays.
I go on holiday every year in fact iv been on holiday to the uk so much im actually missing going to a different country so have asked if I can go holiday to Spain next year as to weather I can or not I don’t know but I will still be going on holiday in the uk a lot with my family so wherever you saw it hopefully if I go on holiday there one day maybe I might see one aswell if I’m lucky.

Those are superb Clare. As previously said by TeeJay, some of them look like paintings. A set to be proud of there ...
