There's some rubbish crossing the Atlantic ready to hit old Blighty tonight.....

The Atlantic chart for midnight tonight, Iceland will take the worst, but those fronts will hold some wet stuff.....
The lines with triangles on are cold fronts, often delivering wet stuff, while the lines with semi circles are warm fronts, and again can offer wet stuff.
The circular lines, 'isobars', are like contours, but to represent lines of equal barometric pressure, the closer they are the stronger the wind speeds are, like contours, the closer they are, the steeper a hill is.....
The image below shows the heavy cloud over Iceland.
I need to get out more!
That's good. We will get either warm or cold rain ...
from my o level geography a hundred years ago, wasn't it roundy and pointy bits on the same line (an occlusion I believe?) that indicates probable rain?

Yep.
Top of the class.
And to guess which direction the wind is gonna come from.....
The closer those wavy lines that encircle a low pressure area, the stronger the wind speeds will be......

Are you and Snappy in cahoots with this dry weather and sunshine greed!
