Edited: PimpernelBloke has pointed out to might that this is a Red Admiral. Inability to correctly identify butterflies to be added to list. I'll roll out excuse number 43: I was knackered after swimming. It was quite a hard lunchtime session. I couldn't even get the floor correct. It was first, not second floor! I did stand on my compost heap. Got that bit right.
Red Admiral, landed on first floor window frame to sun itself.
Stood on garden chair for this one.
Then I stood on compost heap in an attempt to get better angle. Only the blighter didn't play ball. Luckily, nobody wandered on street, otherwise they would think there was a loony.
90% luck, 5% field craft, 5% camera skills.
