The Trailway 12th Oct

I was walking to the trailway (about 2 minutes from my front door) when I was struck by the bright flowers the town council had planted in tubs along the way

What a fine way to start the day!

Onto the Trailway, greeted by some tuneful(?!) Sparrows

And silent, grumpy, Dunnock (which for some reason I struggled to identify!)

Overhead, the birdsong was drowned out...

Then one of many, many waspy/bee-y/hoverfly-y flew into focus

A blackbird demonstrated "Eyes bigger than Belly"!

And, a bit of an oddity... 4 of the 5 herons standing in a field

More mechanical flying stuff...

Throughout the walk there were dozens of Hornets, I don't know if this is unusual, or if it's their time to be out and about. I can't say I've ever noticed so many before

There were still a few butterflies about, Speckled Wood landed close enough for a picture

A VERY distant Kestrel caught my eye

Nearly back at home, and a Pied Wagtail whizzed by

It was a pleasant day, so I thought I'd have a look at the birdbath a while. "Do you mind, a little privacy!!"
