Birds of Prey....Your Pictures Wanted!

I think this must have been a hungry Hobby, I thought they just went for Dragonflies...

Not sure if it has caught a swift, it was in a flock of swifts at the time ?

Stunning capture Snappy! Did it eat it, or did it get away? They usually feed on the wing I thought, seems a bit more than a mouthful lol

I didn't see it catch it PB. Not sure if it got away, dropped it or had eaten enough...

Impressed if it is a Swift, they are definitely in the category of fast food :)

Looked the speed up on https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_birds_by_flight_speed interstingly they are listed not as fast as the Swift, with this note: Can sometimes outfly the Swift as it eats them and catches them on the wing.

If you look at the Hobby thread you will see that they are feeding all sorts to the nestlings so it may well have been on the menu for the babies - anything will do when you have a hungry brood to grow

Well done SM A brilliant photo to capture, I once saw one close up chasing a small bird they are so agile and really fast it all happened in a matter of seconds, Sod’s Law I didn’t have my camera with me at the time although I doubt I would have got a picture it all happened in a flash.
